Agartala: Jitendra Chaudhury, the Tripura Leader of the Opposition, is demanding a formal inquiry into a June 21 meeting between BJP MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury and Booth Level Officers. The CPI(M) leader filed his complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer following reports that the session took place at a community hall in Kalyanpur.

Chaudhury claims the BLOs were attending the meeting while actively working on the Special Intensive Revision of state electoral rolls. No government monitors were present at the event. He fears this move compromises the integrity of the voter list updates. "The reported meeting could raise doubts about the neutrality and transparency of the revision process," Chaudhury wrote in his letter to the election office.

The opposition leader cited recent controversies in Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam to highlight the risks of political interference during roll revisions. He wants the Chief Electoral Officer to force the BJP to explain the purpose of the gathering. The election department must also ensure all staff steer clear of political events to maintain electoral standards.
