Agartala: A Dharmanagar court slapped a Jammu and Kashmir truck driver with 12 years of hard labor. Manjoor Ahamed Chachi faces this lengthy term after a narcotics bust turned up 260 kilograms of dry ganja. The shipment sat hidden inside his truck when police pulled him over.

Authorities caught Chachi at the Churaibari Naka Point on February 1, 2022. Officers ran a routine vehicle check that day. They quickly found the illegal stash and cuffed him on the spot. The Court of the Additional Sessions Judge at Dharmanagar convicted him under Sections 20(B)(II)(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act.

The judge handed down a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh along with the prison sentence. If he misses that payment, he stays behind bars for another six months. Inspector Ajit Kanti Chakma filed the official chargesheet back in July 2022 after concluding the investigation. The judge weighed the facts before delivering the final verdict: "The court found the accused guilty and awarded the sentence in connection with the NDPS case."
