Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha declared that village growth serves as the foundation for the state's prosperity during an event at the Tripura State Agriculture Research Centre in Agartala. The gathering marked the release of the 23rd instalment of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Saha emphasized the vital role farmers play in society, noting that the government's initiatives since 2018 focus on lifting farmers out of debt and doubling their income. He stated, "If villages develop, the state develops, and only if the state develops is real development of the country possible."

To date, direct paddy procurement has injected over Rs 529 crore into farmers' bank accounts. Various central and state programs, such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, have contributed to increased production. The state has also issued more than 2.53 lakh soil health cards to improve land productivity while providing over Rs 233.63 crore in agricultural input subsidies.

Looking at the current financial year, authorities expect to assist over 2.16 lakh farmers with more than Rs 43.32 crore in direct benefits. Saha credited these advancements to improved law and order, which he believes has created a peaceful environment for project implementation. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath attended the event alongside the Chief Minister.
