Transformer Failure Cuts Power to Chümoukedima Villages

Kohima: A technical failure knocked out the 33/11 kV, 5 MVA power transformer at the Ganeshnagar sub-station in Chümoukedima. The breakdown occurred at 3:00 am on August 6. It left residents in the dark. The Department of Power confirmed the outage hit the Aqahuto, Dhansiripar, Doyapur, Hebron Camp area, Razaphe, and surrounding villages.

The agency must replace the damaged unit to bring the grid back online. Crews are working to fix the mess. The Executive Engineer of the Transmission Division in Dimapur said the department is making "all possible effort" to replace the gear and restore electricity at the earliest. Officials apologized for the blackout and asked for the "co-operation and understanding" of the public while they finish the job.
