CRPF Soldiers Plant Trees in Dimapur to Honor Mothers

Kohima: The 173 Battalion CRPF launched a massive tree-planting drive on October 2. They staged the event under the theme Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, or A Tree in the Name of Mother. Workers broke ground simultaneously at the Battalion Headquarters near the Airfield in Dimapur and the BCS site in Chümoukedima.

Senior officers led the charge. Narayan Balai, Second-in-Command, joined Deputy Commandant HB Mono Anal and Dr. Lhouveku Nuh for the task. Dozens of unit personnel grabbed shovels to plant saplings across both locations. The force aimed to boost biodiversity and fight back against climate change.

Unit leadership spoke to the crowd during the event. They stressed that healthy green cover remains essential for the survival of future generations. The brass urged all participants to keep the new saplings alive. "The initiative highlights the force's dedication to combating climate change, preserving local biodiversity, and honouring motherhood through the symbolic act of nurturing nature," the unit stated in a press release.
