Kohima: Law and Justice Advisor T.N. Mannen opened a new Panchayat Hall in Khanimu village on August 8, 2026. He urged residents to build prosperity through unity and democratic action. Progress demands open discussion and respect for every voice. “When we decide together, we move forward together,” he stated.
Mannen told citizens to protect public assets like roads, water sources, schools, and health centers. Residents must act as guardians of these resources through consistent upkeep and care. Neglect hurts everyone. The advisor also pushed the local youth to ditch the hunt for rare government jobs. He suggested focusing on small business, modern farming, animal husbandry, and local crafts instead. “Become positive contributors to society rather than passive seekers of limited and uncertain government jobs,” he advised.
Khanimu sits in the Asetkong range with direct road access to Mokokchung and Assam. This location offers prime space for expansion. Mannen asked the village to adopt flexible land laws to lure outside investment. He claimed that “an environment of trust, clarity and fairness would encourage entrepreneurs and external investors to see Khanimu as a place worth investing in.”
Tongpang Aier, chairman of the Khanimu Village Council, opened the event. N. Temjen Aier and project director Yapangla gave short speeches. Lima Imchen performed a song while Tsüpong Aier and S. Imli Aier closed the ceremony. The advisor finished by stating that transparent community work will turn the village into a regional model.
