Kohima: The Zeliang Students' Union and the Angami Students' Union have issued a joint condemnation regarding the killing of six Naga civilians from Konsakhul village in Manipur. Both organizations described the incident as a barbaric act of violence that involved the abduction, torture, and cold-blooded murder of innocent men.
The Zeliang Students' Union expressed deep outrage over the brutality, stating that the incident represented a severe assault on human dignity. In their official statement, the union emphasized, "No ideology, ethnic difference or political conflict could justify such violence." They further highlighted reports of desecration and inhumane treatment of the victims, noting the deep pain this has inflicted upon the grieving families and the wider Naga community.
The Angami Students' Union also voiced strong concern, pointing specifically to reports of the mutilation and dismemberment of the bodies. The group questioned the efficacy of local security measures, noting that such a violent event could occur despite the presence of significant central security forces in the region. Both unions have called on the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and relevant law enforcement agencies to launch an immediate, impartial investigation to ensure those responsible are prosecuted.
While urging all communities to reject retaliation and maintain peace, the unions have extended their solidarity to the residents of Konsakhul village. They continue to advocate for accountability as the region mourns the loss of the six men.
