Gangtok: Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur met with pharmaceutical industry leaders on Thursday, August 6, at Lok Bhavan. He wants more money for state development. The session marked the first structured sit-down between the Governor and top drug manufacturers to review production capacities and future growth plans.
Pharma remains one of the state's biggest industrial sectors. Executives at the meeting presented detailed operational overviews and outlined specific policy support needs. They discussed how their manufacturing operations drive the local economy. Mathur pushed the firms to step up. "He also encouraged pharmaceutical companies to enhance their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and contribute more actively to social and developmental programmes in the state."
The Governor emphasized that government and industry must work together to ensure inclusive growth. Officials view this as a major step toward long-term economic stability. The state intends to build stronger partnerships with these industrial stakeholders to keep the economy moving.
