Gangtok: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia recently congratulated Sikkim after the state was officially declared fully literate under the Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society, or ULLAS, initiative. Scindia described the achievement as a historic moment and a clear reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed North East.

Highlighting the importance of the milestone, the minister stated that education serves as the essential foundation for an empowered region. His remarks follow a recent visit to the state during its 51st Statehood Day celebrations, where he reaffirmed the central government's commitment to the region's long-term progress.

Beyond the educational success, Scindia detailed a new 360-crore rupee mission designed to bolster Sikkim’s organic economy. This initiative seeks to transition the state into a globally integrated premium organic market by improving infrastructure, branding, and export capabilities. The project is expected to support more than 66,000 farming families by strengthening farmer producer organizations and expanding essential cold-chain and logistics networks.
