Guwahati: Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence smashed a massive drug trafficking ring in Cachar district. They seized 5.6 lakh Yaba tablets worth 168 crore rupees during a night operation between August 25 and 26. The drugs weigh roughly 60 kilograms. The haul is massive.
Security forces struck at Jujhang Pahar in Lakhipur. They arrested one drug peddler on the spot. A Tata truck used to haul the contraband also ended up in police custody. Officials suspect the shipment started in Manipur before moving toward Assam along National Highway 37.
This hit disrupts a major inter-state narcotics network. Assam Rifles stated, "The operation underscored its efforts to identify and disrupt drug-trafficking corridors in the Northeast." Authorities remain on high alert along the route to block further smuggling attempts.
