Residents Accuse Roadside Dhabas of Illegal Overnight Liquor Sales

Guwahati: Residents near the Barkuchi area along the Mirza-Bongara road are blowing the whistle on local eateries. They claim ten dhabas near Bongara Last Gate are flouting operating rules. These establishments allegedly stayed open all night on September 21. Locals say they are also selling liquor without a license.

This behavior sparks fears of drunk driving and road accidents. It also creates a nuisance on the busy stretch under the Palasbari Police Station jurisdiction. These allegations have not been independently verified. Official inspections are still pending.

Fed up locals want the Excise Department and Palasbari Police to step in. They are calling for the district administration to verify all operating licenses and closing times. The public demand is clear. "Take appropriate action against any dhaba found violating applicable laws," urged residents. Authorities have yet to act on these complaints.
