Shillong: Singer Reble took home the top honor at the first Hello Meghalaya Music Awards in Shillong on June 20. The ceremony coincided with World Music Day, serving as a platform to celebrate the state's vibrant community of musicians and content creators. The awards recognized artists who featured their work on the state-backed Hello Meghalaya OTT platform between April 2025 and March 2026.

Reble secured the Icon of the Year title following her rising popularity for songs featured in the Bollywood film Dhurandhar. Other notable recipients included the band Eastern Brook, a group of visually impaired musicians who won Best Inspirational Song for their track Echoes of Unity. Organizers presented 16 awards across diverse genres such as Folk, Pop, Hip-Hop, Gospel, and various artist categories.

The event highlighted the expansion of independent music in the region. Organisers said the awards aim to recognise artists and creators while encouraging original content production in the state. The evening featured performances from local acts including Steve Jyrwa, Amachi Sangma, the Kids Tarari Choir, and the band Bending Waves.

Since launching in 2024, the Hello Meghalaya platform has gained significant traction. It has surpassed five lakh downloads and currently hosts over 1,000 pieces of content produced by local creators.
