Imphal: Assam police caught three men smuggling a massive drug haul near Guwahati. The Special Task Force and Kamrup Police stopped a Tata Nexon at Amingaon, pulling a major shipment of narcotics off the road. The vehicle carried 50,000 Yaba tablets and 67.5 grams of heroin. These drugs were stashed inside secret compartments.
Intelligence reports led officers to intercept the SUV, which was traveling from the Kakching district in Manipur toward lower Assam. Authorities identified the suspects as Kh. Tabish, 24, of Lamding Wanjing Cherapur; Thekcham Avinash Singh, 41, of Khongjom Sapam; and Nongmaithem Biswajit, 38, of Sekmaijin Bazar. The police report stated, "A case has been registered and the three accused have been taken into custody."
The seized haul is worth millions. Police value the contraband at Rs 12.5 crore, though the CID placed the figure closer to Rs 7.5 crore. Investigators are now working to identify the intended recipients and map out the broader inter-state trafficking network behind this delivery.
