Police seize cash and heroin in twin Guwahati railway busts

Guwahati: Guwahati police intercepted a major haul of contraband this week across city rail hubs. Authorities seized fake currency worth Rs 11.08 lakh at Kamakhya Railway Station. The cash consisted entirely of Rs 500 notes. Police took one person into custody. This suspect is from another state. Investigators are working to track the source of the fake bills and check for ties to a wider criminal syndicate.

Separately, a Central Guwahati Police District team from Pan Bazar Station struck at Traffic Colony Railway Station on September 16. Officers acted on a tip to corner three people arriving from Dimapur. They found 114.69 grams of heroin hidden inside 10 soap boxes. The raid also netted three mobile phones. The arrested individuals are Satemyangla, 27, and Fosemlila, 33, of Mokokchung, Nagaland, plus Lalchand Shekh, 38, of Murshidabad, West Bengal. Police stated that "legal action has been initiated against the accused under relevant provisions of the law." Investigations into both cases continue.
