Guwahati: Assam Police officers swarmed the Guwahati Railway Station on October 7. They pulled five suspected Bangladeshi nationals off the Lokmanya Tilak Express. The group planned to ride the train all the way to Mumbai. The Border Surveillance team provided the tip that led to the arrests. Officers found the suspects inside a general coach.

The group included one man and four women. Three women traveled solo, while the fourth was with her husband. One woman held a suspected genuine Aadhaar card. She reportedly confessed to police that she entered India previously and married a man in Gujarat. The group arrived in Guwahati on October 5. They spent their nights at Hotel Vintage Home in Paltan Bazar.

Police raided the hotel to find more evidence. They arrested the hotel owner, Amit Roy Daimary, along with Bishal Paul. Officers also took Hazrat Ali and Ranjan Dhar into custody for their roles in the operation. Authorities are digging into how these people moved across the border. Investigators want to know who provided the travel logistics and fake identification documents. Police stated, "Further details would emerge as the investigation progresses." The department maintains a registered case against all nine individuals currently in custody.
