Police Arrest Truck Driver After Fatal Imphal Road Crash

Imphal: Two people died and three others suffered serious injuries during a collision on Tiddim Road. The crash occurred at Utlou Koubiliya Makhong, near the Imphal Airport. The wreckage involved a commercial truck, registration number NL07AA-5416, which witnesses claimed was moving at reckless speeds.

The two victims died instantly. Medical staff transported the three survivors to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Doctors are monitoring their condition. The truck driver abandoned his vehicle and ran away to escape capture.

Investigators combed through local CCTV footage to map the truck's path. The cameras caught the driver's movements and sequence of events. "The investigation is continuing," police officials stated.

Authorities tracked the suspect to his home. Manipur Police arrested 35-year-old Kshetrimayum Toni Singh of Huidrom Awang Leikai, Pungdongbam. He remains in custody under the jurisdiction of the Lamlai Police Station as legal proceedings move forward. Traffic police are demanding that motorists obey speed limits on the busy highway to avoid future tragedies.
