Pfutsero to Host Pollution Control and Waste Management Awareness Workshop

Kohima: The Pfutsero Town Council is partnering with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board to host an awareness and interactive session on pollution control. The event is scheduled for June 17 at 1 p.m. in the Ketoupa Town Hall.

Mhalo Humtsoe, the ADC and Executive Officer of the Pfutsero Town Council, announced that the meeting will focus on the new Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. Attendees will review the specific responsibilities of waste generators, necessary compliance steps, and the broader impact these regulations have on town councils and local stakeholders.

Beyond waste management, the discussion will address critical environmental concerns such as ambient air pollution. Organizers intend to highlight how these pollutants affect both human health and the local ecosystem. Mhalo Humtsoe stated that the goal is to provide an overview of "responsibilities of waste generators, compliance requirements, and implications for town councils and stakeholders."

Participation is mandatory for a wide range of local leaders and representatives. The council has requested attendance from all heads of departments, town councillors, ward chairmen, and GBs. Additionally, representatives from local organizations including the TPMA, PTBA, PTYO, and PTCSU, as well as heads of educational institutions accompanied by five students each, are expected to take part in the proceedings.
