Manipur Government Hands Kangpokpi Murder Case to NIA

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has ordered a formal investigation by the National Investigation Agency into the abduction and murder of six men in Kangpokpi district. The victims, identified as Pastor Kenpibou, Phenrongwi Thiumai, Rev. Dr. Manu Thiumai, Dilip Thiumai, Kaliwangbou Abonmai, and Ch. Phenrilung, were taken by suspected armed militants from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13.

Security forces discovered the victims' bodies following extensive search operations. Reports indicate the men suffered severe torture before they were killed. Addressing the violence, the Chief Minister confirmed that state authorities are pursuing a strict path to ensure justice.

"The state government has a zero-tolerance stance towards such acts of violence and those involved would be identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law," Singh said in an official statement.

In addition to the Kangpokpi case, the Chief Minister addressed the murder of a farmer from Lansan Kuki village, located in the Tamenglong district. Suspected armed miscreants killed the farmer on June 9. Singh expressed his condolences to the victim's family and pledged that the government remains committed to upholding peace and security throughout the region.
