Imphal: Six bodies arrived at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary in Imphal early on June 11, following their discovery the previous day. The deceased are suspected to be Naga hostages who were abducted on May 13, 2026. Medical officials plan to confirm the identities of the victims through DNA testing, with post-mortem examinations scheduled to begin shortly after the arrival.

A large crowd gathered at the hospital grounds on the afternoon of June 10 to await the bodies. As news of the discovery spread, the public response shifted from grief to anger. The situation escalated into a direct confrontation between the gathered individuals and security forces stationed at the site. Security personnel eventually fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, leaving several people injured during the unrest.

Authorities managed to restore order at the facility before the remains were placed in the morgue for forensic processing. The incident has intensified calls for a complete investigation into the abduction and deaths of the victims. Officials are now urging the public to remain calm while the identification process and legal inquiries proceed.
