Shillong: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress on Wednesday pushed Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to address the ongoing NEET paper leak controversy. Party leaders expressed frustration over the Chief Minister's silence regarding an issue that creates significant uncertainty for roughly 2,000 to 3,000 medical aspirants from the state each year.
During a press conference at Congress Bhavan, MPYC president Timjim K Momin urged the state government to stand with affected students. The organization is demanding greater accountability in national examination procedures and has called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Samrat Keshari Jena, the Indian Youth Congress secretary in charge of Meghalaya, criticized the central government for its lack of empathy toward students. He noted that the administration has failed to address the distress caused by these systemic failures, citing reports of student suicides linked to exam-related stress.
Jena warned that the recurring irregularities will permanently damage public trust in the country's education system. He stated, "Political parties can no longer ignore the aspirations and concerns of the younger generation." The Youth Congress plans to escalate its campaign for transparency to ensure that students receive the support they deserve.
