Imphal: Manipur Police and central paramilitary forces launched a joint combing operation in the Horei Kaphung Hills of Ukhrul district to thwart planned attacks against remote villages. Acting on specific intelligence, security personnel spent five hours securing the Lower Leishan Ridge, where they discovered approximately a dozen armed individuals stationed on a hilltop.
During the confrontation, security forces captured eight people. Authorities disarmed the detainees and released them after issuing a warning against possessing weapons or entering restricted areas. The police stated that the recovered firearms and materials have been moved to the local police station for legal processing.
The operation resulted in the destruction of 16 unauthorized bunkers. The cache of seized items included an SMG carbine, four bolt-action rifles, a 9mm pistol, a single-barrel shotgun, ammunition, and a radio communication set. Officials confirmed that the military presence remains high in the region, noting that "area domination and search operations will continue to ensure the safety of local communities and maintain peace and stability in the area."
