Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the same organisation that earlier denied the whereabout of the abducted 6 Nagas issued a formal statement on Wednesday expressing grief following the discovery of six bodies in Kangpokpi district. Critics said the statement lacked timing, as it was issued only after the release of the 14 counter-abducted Kukis. The victims, identified as Naga men, had been abducted since they were taken hostage by suspected kuki militants on May 13, 2026.

The organization condemned the violence and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. Addressing the incident, the group stated, "The loss of any human life is a tragedy," while calling on all community stakeholders to prioritize restraint and maintain order.

Authorities are now under pressure to conduct a thorough investigation into the killings and pursue legal action against those responsible. The apex body also cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, noting that such actions could further increase regional tensions. The organization emphasized its ongoing commitment to fostering peace and coexistence among all communities in Manipur.
