Imphal: The Justice for the 6 Sons of Koubru United Committee, or J6SKUC, held a protest at Tribal Market in New Checkon on Monday, demanding swift action over the alleged abduction and killing of six Naga men.
Formed under the Joint Tribes Council, the committee urged authorities to immediately arrest and prosecute those allegedly involved in the killings. Protesters also called for the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations, SoO, Agreement, the declaration of the Kuki National Front (Presidential), or KNF-P, as a terrorist organisation, the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, and the eviction of what they described as illegal villages.
Addressing the gathering, AMUCO president S. Sanjoy alleged that despite the heavy deployment of security forces since the Manipur conflict began on May 3, 2023, authorities had failed to act effectively against Kuki SoO groups. He also alleged that the Centre had allowed the conflict to continue and criticised elected representatives for remaining silent as violence and displacement persisted.
Sanjoy urged the government to ensure justice for the six victims and warned that public anger could grow if demands for accountability continued to be ignored.
