Khangabok Residents Block Highway Over Fatal Stoning

Imphal: Angry locals choked National Highway 102 today. They blocked traffic at Khangabok and Arongthong. They want the people who killed Laishram Rakesh behind bars. Rakesh died after a rock hit him during a musical show at the CYSA Playground in Cherapur, Khangabok Part-III.

The standoff follows a public meeting held at the Khangabok Mayai Leikai Community Hall. Protesters torched tires on the pavement to force a response. They marched through the streets before staging a sit-in right in front of the Thoubal Superintendent of Police office. They are demanding that the authorities catch the culprits within 24 hours.

Demonstrators held placards demanding peace and an end to all violence. They delivered a formal memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal. The document lists their grievances and asks for immediate legal action. Residents also want officials to lower tensions between local communities. They expressed deep frustration about the current state of affairs and warned that "groups allegedly responsible for provoking violence" must stop acting with total impunity.
