Federation of Haomee Plans October 23 Protest Over Manipur Unrest

Imphal: The Federation of Haomee is staging a candlelight protest across Manipur on October 23, 2026. The group wants residents to unite and speak out against the state of chaos. President Sapamcha Jadumani claims the region has suffered constant violence since May 3, 2023, leaving many dead or missing. Displaced victims still crowd relief camps after losing their homes to arson.

The federation claims armed Kuki groups are attacking indigenous people in both hill and valley regions. They also suspect outside groups are fueling the unrest. They want the government to act now. The federation demands an update to the National Register of Citizens before any future elections. Their slogan is clear: "No NRC, No Election."

Protesters will light candles from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The group also asks for a period of silence from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Participants should record videos and post them to social media or send footage to 8794889180 or 6300690252 via WhatsApp.

The organization’s list of demands includes an end to what they call the Government of India’s "divide and rule" policy. They want killers arrested, missing bodies recovered, and foreign nationals deported. They also oppose any separate administration for Manipur. Armed individuals in the hills must be stopped from moving freely, according to the group. They are urging all indigenous citizens to show up and make their voices heard.
