Kohima: Power officials and technical experts gathered at Peren Town Council Hall on July 4 to pitch a shift toward smart metering and renewable energy. The Department of Power wants to modernize the local grid. It starts with the installation of smart meters.
Representatives from ANVIL briefed the crowd on how these devices work. They focus on accurate billing, real-time tracking of power use, and better energy management. Officials want residents to cut waste.
Vendors from Elmechent Enterprise and A&D Solar laid out the Rooftop Solar Scheme. They detailed the subsidy programs, how to get panels installed, and the long-term cash savings of going green. Public officials including ADC Robin and Peren Town Council chairman Mireulung attended the event. They urged the public to get on board.
The speakers noted these initiatives aim to improve local power quality while pushing for sustainable development. Er. Tsiamchi Ndang, AE (Electrical), Peren, was among those who supported the move. Organizers stated that smart metering and solar energy would contribute to "efficient electricity usage, reduced costs and sustainable development."
Er. Kidosap chaired the meeting. Haiku Nza provided the invocation, and Er. Nguyunglo Kesen wrapped up the session with a vote of thanks.
