Kohima: Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, general secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, released the book Thinking Through the Times on Sunday. The launch event took place at the Poumai Baptist Church in Midland, Kohima. Pastor, writer, and speaker Liba Hopeson wrote the volume. Crown Publishing handled the release.
The book gathers 52 articles written over two years. These pieces previously appeared in newspapers across Nagaland and Manipur. Hopeson specifically credited the Eastern Mirror, The Morung Express, Nagaland Post, Hills Hornbill Express, and Times of Senapati for his earlier work. It covers social, cultural, educational, economic, and spiritual topics through a Christian lens.
Hopeson wants readers to move past narrow thinking. He hopes the work prompts critical thought and meaningful living. Hopeson has a long list of previous titles. These include Exploring for a Better World, Igniting the Christian Mind, Facets of Life, Theology of Work, and 50 Commonly Misinterpreted Bible Verses from the New Testament.
Rev. Dr. Pongener praised the effort during the ceremony. He noted that publishing requires significant personal investment. He said, "Writing a book required wisdom, sacrifice, family support and financial resources." The leader believes the book will provide benefits to families, communities, and churches.
