Kohima: The five-day North East National Service Scheme (NSS) Festival ended on July 31 at RCEMPA in Jotsoma, near Kohima. More than 300 volunteers from eight northeastern states attended the event. It ran from July 27 through July 31.
Roko Angami, the OSD for the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, served as the special guest for the valedictory program. He challenged the participants to drive the vision of a developed India by 2047. "North East Region is a crown Jewel of India, rich not only in bio-diversity and cultural but in immense human potential," Angami said. He pushed the attendees to sharpen their leadership skills and protect the environment.
Competitions highlighted the event. Mizoram took first place in folk dance, followed by Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Assam won the power point presentation category, with Tripura and Sikkim placing second and third. Assam also led in the extempore speech contest, beating out Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Nagaland secured the top spot in the folk song competition, while Meghalaya and Manipur tied for second.
Regional Director D. Carthigueane and State NSS Officer Ruokuovituo Zatsu joined Angami to hand out awards. Langphoang chaired the session, and Likumcha Yim offered an invocation. Nuveta Khusoh delivered the closing vote of thanks. The State NSS Cell of Nagaland and Kohima Science College hosted the gathering in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
