Kohima: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim (NSCN/GPRN) has condemned the killing and alleged mutilation of six Naga civilians. The victims, who were reportedly abducted on May 13, were discovered in Manipur this week, prompting the organization to label the incident a crime against humanity.
In a statement issued on June 10, the group accused Kuki armed factions and village volunteers of carrying out the violence. The organization described the act as a grave violation of human dignity and urged the Government of India to immediately designate these groups as terrorist organizations. The group argued that the targeted violence and desecration of bodies necessitate firm legal intervention to prevent future atrocities.
Addressing the broader implications of the violence, the statement noted, "The deliberate desecration of human bodies serves no purpose other than to spread terror, weaponize fear, and inflict deep psychological trauma on grieving families and communities."
The NSCN/GPRN also criticized the role of Indian security forces in the region. They alleged that authorities have failed to adequately protect Naga civilians from armed groups while simultaneously taking stricter action against Naga protesters and activists. The organization questioned the commitment of the state to its constitutional obligations regarding the equal protection of all citizens.
Authorities are currently conducting forensic examinations and identification procedures as the investigation into the deaths continues. The NSCN/GPRN expressed its condolences to the affected families and vowed to pursue accountability until those responsible are brought to justice.
