Aizawl: A joint task force led by the Excise and Narcotics Department, the Assam Rifles, and the Central Young Mizo Association confiscated 740 grams of heroin during a raid on Friday. The operation occurred at approximately 2:30 am in New Vervek village, located in the Aizawl district near the Manipur border.

Officials discovered the contraband packed inside 61 soap cases. In addition to the narcotics, the team seized a Mahindra Bolero camper vehicle that authorities believe was used for transporting the drugs. The Excise Department stated that the team conducted a successful operation, noting, "In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint team comprising the Excise and Narcotics Department, Assam Rifles, and the Central Anti-Drugs Squad (CADS) of the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) conducted an early morning operation on Friday."

Nine individuals from Manipur's Pherzawl district were taken into custody and charged under Section 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985. The suspects appeared before the Special Court in Aizawl later that day.
