New Jalukie Village Hosts Anti-Drug Awareness Rally

Kohima: A community anti-drug rally took place in New Jalukie, Nagaland, this past Saturday to address the rising concerns of substance abuse. The event aimed to educate residents on the dangers of drugs while strengthening local initiatives to stop drug peddling within the Peren district.

Organized by the New Jalukie Village Youth Organization and the New Jalukie Women Society, the rally brought together students, village leaders, and local residents. Speakers at the event included Kevewulou and Aziku Kulimbe, both counselors from the OST Centre at CHC Jalukie. They discussed how addiction negatively impacts both individuals and society.

The counselors encouraged younger participants to make better life choices and take a stand against substance abuse. They stated, "stressed the need for collective action to build a drug-free community." Their message focused on the importance of community involvement in maintaining public health and safety.

Students from United Christian School, L.M. Higher Secondary School, and New Jalukie Baptist School joined village authorities and community members in the march. The organizers noted that the event was made possible through the financial support of donors Ginbonlung Kamei and Aziku Kulimbe. Following the rally, the Youth Organization pledged to maintain their efforts in creating a safe and drug-free environment for the region.
