Kohima: The Badze Leshüki Alternative Learning Centre officially opened its doors on June 4 in Kimho, Kohima Village. School Education Advisor Dr. Kekhrie Yhome inaugurated the facility, which operates under the Dr. K and T Keditsu Foundation’s Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Alternative Learning initiative.
Set within a forest campus, the school utilizes a play-based, multigrade, and transdisciplinary learning model. The curriculum is designed to align with both the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage 2023. By combining indigenous Naga traditions with contemporary educational methods, the centre seeks to provide a locally grounded and culturally responsive environment for students.
During the ceremony, Dr. Yhome praised the school’s innovative approach and expressed his desire for ongoing collaboration with the Department of School Education. He noted that the institution offers a valuable, contextual response to modern educational challenges. Addressing the attendees, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Advisor to the Chief Minister, emphasized "the need for education to connect children to their roots."
The event also marked a transition in leadership as Founding Trustee Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu formally transferred the school to the stewardship of the Dr. K and T Keditsu Foundation. The campus was consecrated by Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu, Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, while Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu served as the moderator for the inauguration program.
