National Statistics Office Launches Massive Surveys Across Nagaland

Kohima: The National Statistics Office started fieldwork this week for three major all-India surveys across Nagaland. Enumerators will hit sample villages and blocks until June 2027 to gather hard data. The Field Operations Division of the Kohima Regional Office oversees the project. They have picked 12 specific locations for the rollout.

The survey sites include Zunheboto, Meluri, Khuzama, Bhandari, and Shamator. Field teams will also visit Chakpa, Chozuba, Kashanyishi, Diphupar A, Tuensang, Sena Old, and Changtongya. Trained staff will visit homes to quiz residents on their financial health, movement, and farm operations.

The three initiatives target distinct data points. The All India Debt and Investment Survey tracks household loans, assets, and debt to boost financial inclusion. The Migration Survey maps internal movement, remittance flows, and jobs to help build social security nets. The Situation Assessment Survey of Agricultural Households focuses on farm income and farmer welfare.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation manages the operation. They guaranteed that all information stays private. "All data collected will remain strictly confidential and used solely for official statistical purposes." Officials asked the public and local authorities to work with the survey teams to finish the work on time.
