Kohima: Abu Metha, Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland, laid out a bold vision for Mon on August 31. He spoke at a Task Force for Music and Arts event held at Walo Guest House in Mon Town. He wants more local talent feeding into the state's creative economy.
Metha praised the local music scene and the Konyak content creators for their innovation. He kept it direct when assessing the region's cultural standing. "Mon District is the most important district as far as Music and Arts is concerned," he told the crowd.
The district is a factory for athletes too. Metha pointed to a steady stream of football talent coming from the area. He hopes Konyak players will eventually compete on the national stage. The region faces clear infrastructure and socioeconomic hurdles, but he maintains the talent is already there.
TaFMA continues to run workshops, seminars, and festivals to bridge these gaps. Metha set a high bar for the 2026 Hornbill Festival Mon Extension. He wants the event to be bigger and more inclusive. During the ceremony, he honored two TaFMA beneficiaries: Monglong T from Longphoah village and Wangkhao Issac from Angjangyang village.
