Imphal: A 40-member delegation from the Nagaland Tribal Hohos Coordination Committee traveled to the SM Sha Complex in Senapati on Tuesday. They met with the United Naga Council to lock arms in solidarity. The groups aim to secure justice for six Naga men killed in Manipur last month. The gathering follows weeks of public protests and emotional mobilizations across Naga regions.

Thejao Veihnou, convenor of the committee and president of the Angami Public Organisation, led the delegation. He spoke bluntly about the current unrest. "It is unfortunate that the Kukis, who are nomadic in nature, came to this part of the region as mercenaries and are now attempting to establish a homeland by driving out the indigenous people," Veihnou stated. He also claimed the conflict will likely drag on for a long time.

Veihnou backed his position with historical references. He pointed to a 1956 representation submitted to the Prime Minister. He argued that Kuki groups previously offered to fight the Nagas for the Indian government. He continues to advocate for peaceful coexistence as the only right path forward.

UNC president Ng Lorho demanded a unified front to pursue accountability. The council maintains an active economic blockade on Kuki-inhabited areas. They refuse to back down until their demands are met. The group wants the government to scrap the Suspension of Operations agreement with Kuki militant groups. They have already submitted these terms to Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. The visit solidifies a growing bond between Naga civil society organizations in Nagaland and Manipur.
