Kohima: The Department of Women Resource Development, the Department of Industries and Commerce, and the artisan collective Mother's Craft signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 5. This partnership aims to bolster the livelihoods of women trained under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme by streamlining the production, promotion, and marketing of their goods in Nagaland.

The collaboration provides institutional support to help these entrepreneurs reach broader markets. A key component of the initiative involves integrating products into Myki, the official marketing platform and retail store operated by the Department of Women Resource Development. By pooling resources across departments, the project seeks to improve branding and strengthen the overall value chain for handmade textiles and handicrafts.

Additional director of Industries and Commerce, Er. Y. Lipongse Thongtsar, stressed the value of this cooperative approach. He stated that the project fosters essential "synergies between the departments in textiles and handicrafts, making such partnerships vital for women led enterprises."

Mother's Craft, a group of 12 women artisans established in July 2024, was recognized as a success story of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. Specializing in crochet dolls and toys, the collective has already gained national exposure at events like the Hornbill Festival and Delhi Haat. Their products are currently sold in several states, including Delhi, Karnataka, and Rajasthan, with ongoing promotion via their Instagram page.
