Kohima: The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission is bringing rural goods to the capital. They scheduled a two-day Self Help Group Seasonal Bazaar for September 9 and 10. The market sets up at Old NST, located directly opposite the Crescent International Hotel in Kohima.
Vendors from Wokha district are traveling in to staff the stalls. They arrive with a mountain of farm-fresh stock. Expect to find green leafy vegetables, pumpkins, chayote, pineapples, diverse chilli variants, seasonal fruits, and taro stems. The mission wants to boost local trade. The NSRLM stated the initiative aims to "create consumer awareness about locally available rural produce" while finding reliable avenues for small producers to reach buyers.
The inventory goes beyond basic farming. Stalls will sell homemade pickles, natural fruit juices, brooms, and traditional handicrafts. Buyers can also pick up local poultry and fresh crabs. The event operates under the theme: Go green, Eat fresh and Support Local.
Doors open at 8:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM on both days. The mission hopes to push these village-made products into a wider market.
