Nagaland Prepares for 2026 Census House Listing Operations

Kohima: The State Level Census Coordination Committee held a meeting in Kohima on Tuesday to review preparations for the initial stage of the 2026 Census. Home commissioner Abhijit Sinha chaired the session at the Civil Secretariat, where officials outlined plans for the House Listing Operation scheduled for July 2026.

Dr. Keneilhoutuolie Miachieo, the director of Census Operations and Citizen Registration for Nagaland, confirmed that 6,461 census functionaries have been appointed for the task. The state has already trained 130 field trainers, with scheduled sessions for over 6,000 supervisors and enumerators set to take place throughout June 2026.

State officials are coordinating a broad publicity campaign to encourage public participation. This includes radio broadcasts featuring messages from the governor, chief minister, and other senior leaders. The Department of Information and Public Relations and the Press Information Bureau will lead media outreach, while social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube will host promotional content created by Dreamz Unlimited.

The committee also evaluated the logistics of the upcoming operation, including material distribution, vehicle allocation, and financial planning. Leaders discussed the status of fund releases and staffing needs, ensuring that all preparations align with requirements established during previous coordination meetings held earlier this year.
