Kohima: Nagaland minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse demanded tougher action against sexual violence on June 23. She spoke during a Kohima event after witnessing a spike in abuse cases reported across the state. The situation is bad. Reports hit the news cycle every few days.

Kruse is the first woman to hold a cabinet post in Nagaland. She pressured local authorities to boost vigilance and sharpen enforcement to shield the most vulnerable citizens from harm. The minister expressed deep concern over the recurring reports of abuse involving women and young girls.

She told reporters, "Today, we are hearing a lot of news through the papers every morning. Almost after a few days, another story comes up like that. I feel that our authorities should work harder to keep our women and children safe."

The government must prioritize this fight. Kruse insists that law enforcement agencies coordinate their efforts to lock up perpetrators and stop future attacks. Public pressure continues to mount as residents demand results.
