Kohima: Nagaland's leadership presented the state's strategic development goals during the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council held in Shillong on June 4. The gathering brought together Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia alongside governors and chief ministers from across the North East.

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan emphasized the urgent need for enhanced regional connectivity and broader initiatives focused on youth empowerment. His remarks underscored the role of improved infrastructure in fostering long-term economic stability and social progress within the state.

During the session, Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio focused on the state's ongoing developmental priorities. He formally presented the High-Level Task Force report on Handlooms and Handicrafts to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This report serves as a roadmap for promoting local industries and artisans, aiming to integrate traditional craftsmanship into the broader regional economy.

The event highlighted a unified effort by state leaders to engage with central ministers on critical growth sectors. By addressing both digital and physical connectivity alongside the preservation of traditional industries, the state government seeks to align its local objectives with the broader federal agenda for the North East.
