Nagaland Congress launches public survey to shape 2028 election roadmap

Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) introduced a new public questionnaire initiative on June 13 to gather grassroots feedback for its future policy planning. Party leaders unveiled the booklet at Congress Bhavan in Kohima, with the goal of incorporating public aspirations and priorities into their platform ahead of the 2028 state election.

Working President Khriedi Theunuo noted that 1,000 booklets have already been distributed to District Congress Committees across the state. The party intends to conclude the survey by the end of June, keeping all responses confidential to encourage open dialogue. Theunuo emphasized the importance of public input, stating, "the feedback will help us in bringing out in the policy making of the party and to help us to understand the aspiration, concern and priorities of the people."

Lok Sabha MP and NPCC President S. Supongmeren Jamir acknowledged the party's recent history in the state, noting that the Congress has not held legislative power in Nagaland for 23 years. "We accept our failures, but we'll not stand always on the failures. We want to reach the people and we also want to serve the people," Jamir said. He encouraged the younger generation to participate, framing the exercise as a move toward humble service.

The questionnaire covers a range of topics, including the effectiveness of current leadership, the state's direction, and public opinion on issues such as liquor prohibition. The party aims to use these responses to determine its focus areas and regain public trust by aligning its future agenda with the needs of church leaders, social activists, and the general public.
