Naga Village Guard Warns Kuki Group Over Inflammatory Allegations

Imphal: The Eastern Command of the Naga Village Guard issued a firm warning to the Village Volunteer Eastern Zone, Kuki-Zo-Gam, following allegations that Tangkhul Naga organizations were imposing economic blockades on Kuki civilians in the Kamjong district. The Naga group labeled these accusations as baseless and accused the Kuki volunteer organization of ignoring the true origins of the ongoing regional conflict.

Addressing the claims of an economic embargo, the Naga Village Guard questioned the narrative by pointing out that the critical National Highway 202 has been impassable for over three months. They further alleged that armed groups, including those under the Suspension of Operations pact, have repeatedly launched offensives against several Tangkhul villages. The organization stated that these attacks in the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries.

The Naga Village Guard emphasized that its members have refrained from harming Kuki residents in specific villages, offering them safe passage despite the hostilities. They refuted any involvement by Tangkhul civil society in movement restrictions, arguing that current tensions stem from acts of aggression against the indigenous population. Warning against further provocations, the Naga group cautioned that continuing to issue ultimatums against the Tangkhul community will lead to serious consequences.
