Imphal: Dr. Santa Thokchom took home the Woman Veterinarian Award for Excellence in Pet Care Services. The ceremony occurred on August 29, 2026, at the ITC Maurya in New Delhi. Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, handed out the honors.
She stood among 30 female veterinary professionals from across the country. The award marks her years of work in veterinary science and animal welfare. Her expertise centers on Animal Genetics and Breeding.
Thokchom brings 17 years of experience to her practice. She has worked with major groups like People for Animals and CUPA. In 2020, she started Dr. Santa Animal Healthcare in Bengaluru. The clinic serves as a hub for advanced veterinary medicine. She credited the industry for the growth, stating, "The award recognises Dr Santa’s contributions to veterinary science and her dedication to animal health, pet care and animal welfare in India."
