Kohima: Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir handed over three ambulances to the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur, Pochury Hoho, and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization. The ceremony took place Saturday at Neo Motors, located across from the SBI Bank at 5th Mile, Model Village, Diphupar. These vehicles were funded through the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme.
Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Y. Kikheto Sema led the event. He pushed for a communal mindset to solve regional problems. "We, as Nagas, should live together. We must think in terms of ‘We’, not ‘I’. ‘I’ brings illness, while ‘We’ brings wellness," he said. He credited the MP for donating 13 ambulances statewide over the last three years.
Sema addressed Nagaland’s 25th place ranking out of 28 states in the NITI Aayog India Index 2023-24. He blamed poor digital reporting rather than a lack of progress. He reported holding 23 review meetings in three months to fix data entry gaps. He also urged officials to track schemes in remote villages and pushed for better birth and death registration numbers to help future policy planning.
The discussion touched on the Frontier Naga Territory development, with Sema thanking Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also advocated for shifting from jhum cultivation to coffee, rubber, and tea plantations for economic gain. He warned that Article 371A offers no immunity from climate change effects. The event concluded with a prayer from Associate Pastor Joikap Phom.
