Kohima: Members of the Mokokchung Town Gorkha Baptist Church hit the streets Wednesday. They launched a massive cleanliness drive stretching from Tongdentsuyong Ward to the Imkongmeren Sports Complex. It was hard work. Volunteers scrubbed the roadsides and cleared debris to boost civic pride and local health.
The effort serves as a precursor to the Church's Golden Jubilee Celebration slated for December 2027. The project aimed to sharpen community responsibility through collective action. Church leaders thanked the Mokokchung Municipal Council and all volunteers for their sweat equity in the operation.
The church confirmed plans to keep this momentum going as the jubilee date approaches. "The programme reflected the Church’s commitment to contributing towards the cleanliness and well being of the community, while also encouraging collective responsibility and greater awareness of maintaining a healthy environment," the church noted in a statement. They intend to organize more community-focused events in the coming years.
