Aizawl: Mizoram School Education Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana recently inaugurated the Northeast region’s first New Age Tech Skills Centre at the Government Comprehensive Model School in Aizawl. This initiative aims to equip students with critical skills in fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, and drone technology.

The project is a collaboration between the state's School Education Department and Bharat Forge Ltd., which funded the center through its corporate social responsibility program. Technical support is provided by SimuSoft Technologies, which also developed a specialized curriculum and textbooks tailored for school-aged students. These materials were officially introduced during the launch event.

This initiative traces its origins to a June 2025 workshop held by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Mizoram government's CSR Cell. By integrating industry-relevant training into the school curriculum, officials hope to align local education with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020.

The inauguration ceremony featured live demonstrations of the new technologies, highlighting capabilities in CNC simulation and the Internet of Things. Attendees included School Education Secretary David Lalthantluanga, Director of School Education Angela Zothanpuii, and guest of honor Dr. Leena Deshpande.
