Aizawl: The Hualngoram People’s Organisation (HPO) met with the Zo Reunification Organisation (ZORO) in Aizawl this week to request urgent humanitarian aid. Recent surges by the Myanmar military in Chin State have pushed thousands of troops forward. These forces have reclaimed several towns close to the Hualngoram region, which is currently administered by the Chinland Council.
HPO officials fear the junta’s campaign will soon cross into border settlements. They believe an attack on three specific localities near the international border is now unavoidable. The organization is requesting food and medical supplies to sustain civilians trapped by the fighting.
ZORO representatives promised to help. Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii also pledged medical support for those displaced by the violence. The junta’s push to regain lost territory began in late 2025, keeping the region in a state of high alert.
Mizoram has consistently supported refugees since the 2021 military coup in Myanmar. This support persists despite previous directives from the Central Government to restrict aid. Reflecting on the state's dedication to peace, one observer noted: “Four decades later, the Accord stands not merely as a political settlement but as a rare demonstration of how a wounded society can choose reconciliation over resentment.”
Mizoram continues to provide shelter for its neighbors. It refuses to abandon those in need.
