Aizawl: Mizoram hit a major milestone this week. The state marked 40 years since the signing of its historic peace accord. Chief Minister Lalduhoma asked citizens to protect the peace that has defined the region since 1986. Stability remains the bedrock of their growth.

Before the accord, two decades of insurgency gripped the state. Development stayed frozen during those violent years. Lalduhoma noted that progress finally began once the shooting stopped. "It was only after peace and stability were restored through the peace accord that Mizoram could embark on a steady path of progress," he said.

The state has seen a massive turnaround since the deal. It now boasts full literacy rates and top-tier rankings in national development goals. Tourists flock to the state, and it frequently tops the charts as one of India's happiest regions. Governor Vijay Kumar Singh joined the celebration, calling the state a model for the rest of the nation to follow.
