Aizawl: Election officials in Mizoram have distributed more than half of the enumeration forms needed for the state's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Launched on May 30, the project aims to ensure high accuracy in voter data before the process concludes on June 28.
Avip Kumar Singh, Deputy Director of Media for the Election Commission of India, praised the work of Booth Level Officers who are conducting door-to-door verification. Several districts have already achieved over 80 percent coverage in form distribution. These officers are visiting households to help residents complete documentation and verify eligibility.
To ensure no eligible citizen is overlooked, officers are making repeat visits to homes and working with neighbors when residents are unavailable. Singh noted the significance of these efforts for national democratic integrity, saying, "The nationwide revision aims to strengthen the integrity of India's democratic process by removing inaccuracies arising from deceased voters, duplicate registrations, shifted electors and other ineligible entries."
The revision process will eventually lead to the publication of a draft electoral roll, followed by a period for claims and objections. Residents also have the option to submit their forms online through the official Election Commission platform. Officials confirmed that the current exercise is strictly focused on maintaining accurate records rather than targeting specific individuals.
