Aizawl: The Mizoram government is launching a mobile application called MizoTaxi to curb unfair overcharging and increase transparency across the public transport network. Starting July 1, the digital platform will debut in Aizawl to help passengers verify and pay fares that align with official government standards.

The service covers taxis, auto-rickshaws, and two-wheeler taxis. By using the app, commuters can check prescribed rates for their trips, which officials hope will reduce disputes and improve accountability among drivers. The move reflects a broader state initiative to adopt technology to modernize public services and boost confidence in urban transit.

Authorities plan to monitor the implementation and public response in Aizawl before considering an expansion of the service to other regions.
